I was about to eat a bowl of cup noodles today, and as I poured hot water in to the flimsy Styrofoam casing, I pondered "will this kill me?" And so I read the nutritional values, just as I always do when I eat something (because I am fat).
Two thing caught my eye.
1.) They listed the nutrition facts as 1/2 cup. It's pointless to argue, I know, but I still find it annoying. People USUALLY (99.9% of the times) eat cup noodles whole. They don't eat half and save the other half for later.
2.) The sodium for half the cup was 66%. 1560 mg. That's a lot of salt. That means if you were a college student, (stereotypically assuming you eat 3 cups of noodles a day) you consume 4 times as much salt as you need every day. That's 9.4 grams of salt every day, or 3.4 kg of salt a year.
Umm... salt poison anyone?
And yet... fully knowing that this is going to shorten my life span, I heartily eat it. I'm a dumbass-yup.
