While I was going through youtube with no purpose whatsoever, I came across an old video that was oh-so-familiar to me. It was a favorite of mine, and of course, it was an Oscar Peterson Trio performance. I remembered how I watched the video and cried for endless hours in December of 2007, when I heard the news of his death. The way his magical fingers ran across the keys of the piano, the way he smiled and laughed as he created a lullaby, I can never recreate it in my head when I sit in front of my piano.
It was one of my aspirations to one day see him in a concert, maybe even have the honor to shake his hand and start a conversation with him.
No matter how much time passes, it seems like he's one person I'll never be able to forget.
So my friend was supposed to (hopefully) get her driver's license N (stands for Nubcake) tomorrow, and we decided given she passes we (might) go to McDonald's, or you know... Something that probably won't cause cancer.
Then she asked me How about sushi? Do you like sushi? And a second after, she said the exact thing I was thinking. "I probably shouldn't bother asking, huh?"
The fact she asked me the question wasn't funny, it was the fact she had such a slow epiphany, but then again, she's blonde.
